I dialed them back to +80/+680 and got a stable overclock. I was also able to get a massive +750 MHz on the memory before getting artifacts.
I was able to get +85 MHz on the core without a driver crash. It runs 10C cooler than my GTX 670 and the 670 makes SO much more noise at even 60%. I can hear a bit of an increase in noise when I set the fan up to 70% from its default 10% (!!) at idle, but it's far from annoying. These open design coolers are so much better than the shrouds. I can't be sure how much that really hurts gaming performance. The drawback is that the memory bus is 192-bit instead of 256-bit, which means it loses 25% memory bandwidth to the GTX 670. It is the same size as my EVGA GTX 670 FTW, which means it has a PCB the size of a GTX 680. Some people may be turned off or surprised by that so make sure you understand what you are buying up front. Rather, it is the "middle" version, the OC, which comes with a lesser factory overclock and a different bios than the TOP. However, I feel I have to point out that Asus makes three models of the 660 ti and this is not the TOP version, the one you see in most reviews. Anyone gaming on 1080 or 1200 resolution will not need anything more than this card. Overall Review: This is a very strong video card for the money, especially when you consider Borderlands 2 comes as part of the deal. When OC'd it performs fine but fans seem to jump around instead of holding a steady speed, though that is relatively minor issue. Came with coupon for Borderlands 2 you could use to activate game on Steam.Ĭons: Not the GTX 660ti TOP model. Comes with small overclock and OCs higherl.
